Jonathan is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Redstone Investments. He has been involved in the real estate and construction industry for more than 35 years. Jon started with Burdman Brothers, a family-owned real estate, construction and property management company as a summer intern in 1978. Upon his graduation from Syracuse University, he joined Marine Midland Bank as a commercial real estate lender in 1983.
In 1988, Jon and his cousin, Lee Burdman, started JLB Investments, which in 1991 became Redstone Investments. Redstone, was started in Youngstown, Ohio, as a development, management and acquisitions company with a focus on shopping center development. Redstone’s portfolio is currently comprised of more than 4 million square feet of commercial real estate located in 15 states. In addition to real estate development projects, Redstone focuses on commercial real estate services and brokerage.
In 2005, Jon relocated to Tampa expanding the Redstone portfolio of companies to include Redstone Commercial LLC, the firm’s commercial real estate brokerage which also provides asset management services for financial institutions and other third parties. In 2011, Redstone Funding, LLC was formed to purchase notes and pools of notes. Redstone Funding has had great success buying notes from numerous financial institutions throughout the US.
Jon has served on the Board of Directors of Huntington Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ: HBAN) on the company’s Executive and Risk Oversight committees. Prior to Huntington, Jon served eight years on the board of Sky Financial (which was acquired by Huntington in 2007), five of which he held the role of Lead Director. In addition, Jon has served on the boards of two other publicly and privately held bank holding companies. Additionally, Jon has participated as an active partner and investor in venture capital and private equity investments for many years.
Jon has been married for more than 29 years to wife Karen Greenberg Levy. They have two children, Dori and Zack, and the family dog, Sammie. Jon spends his spare time playing golf, skiing, boating, traveling with friends, family and always enjoys a great bottle of wine. He is also an avid sports enthusiast of basketball, lacrosse and ice hockey.
